Dr. Hackzell completed his undergraduate work in Electrical Engineering in Umea, Sweden. He attended the University of Umea Medical School in Umea, Sweden and received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering - Medical Informatics from the University of Linkoping, Linkoping, Sweden in 1992. Dr. Hackzell then did a Swedish Rotating Internship in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Psychiatry for two years before completing his residency training in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Orebro Medical Center Hospital in Orebro, Sweden. After moving to the United States, he completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in Anesthesiolgy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is now an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
