Welcome from the Recruiting DirectorCongratulations on selecting anesthesiology as your area of future medical practice! We are pleased that you are considering the University of Arizona Department of Anesthesiology for your training. The University offers excellent training in anesthesiology. We have been extremely impressed with the caliber of our incoming and graduating residents during our tenure with the University. Our residents are well trained in clinical anesthesiology, as they are exposed to a tremendous variety of cases from basic orthopedics to pediatric cardiothoracic cases to organ transplantation. The caseload at our facility continues to increase, and our department has met this challenge with ease. The Chairman, Dr. Barker, and the faculty have been very responsive to the residents' requests and needs for change. This is evident with the didactic schedule, which emphasizes case conferences, faculty and guest lectures. It can also be seen with the change in resident call schedule in which the first call resident (CA-2 or CA-3) begins weekday call duties at 15:00 rather than 7am. Our residents are never asked to "hang around" the day after call nor do we schedule lectures on Saturdays. Please enjoy browsing the website, which has been recently updated. If you have any questions about the program, please contact our Residency Coordinator, Trish Angiulo at 520 626 7141 or you can e-mail us at resprog@u.arizona.edu. Thanks! |
